New Phone Systems: Check First, Or Be Sorry!
Good phone systems are necessary; are new phone systems really necessary? Why is it, you cannot make do with the one you already have? Most managers and business heads keep asking themselves questions such as these, every time there is a doubt in their minds with regard to the communication channels that they have already in place. The clue to getting clear-cut answers on questions of this kind is to do a proper study on your requirements. You need to know:
* The kind of phone that you need.
* The number of handsets that will be optimum for your business
* The volume of traffic you expect to have in a typical working day * The other facilities like video, faxes and audio recording that you might or might not need * Whether or not you might have to expand the system at a later date; if this is so, then to what extent. * Whether you require a system that can be used to make conference calls * The most important factor: the amount of money that you are prepared to spend on the phone system. When you have done your share of thinking on the above and you decide not to go in for new phone systems, you can then start asking yourself about the disadvantages of buying a used phone system. You realize that no plan is without its share of problems. If you want to go in for used phone systems, you will certainly end up paying a lot less. You have to remember however, that new phone systems will have much less problems to cope with. Now, you are really confused. If you are going in for new phone systems, you really should not worry too much, because you get a product that comes with a warranty. You can actually get the system back to the dealer who sold it to you and you will probably get back the money that you spent. On the other hand, if you were to go in for a used phone system, this might not be possible. There will be nobody to take back the phone however badly it may perform, merely because it has been used earlier by somebody else. At the end of the day, you need to be quite careful whether or not you go in for new phone systems. Apart from the additional features that you are looking for, the cost is a deciding factor. If you are convinced that the amount of money that you choose to spend on the phone system that you wish to install is reasonable, it means that you have carried out a basic CBA (Cost Benefit Analysis) on the issue. There are a lot of people who would tell you that you cannot decide on something till you know how it works. It therefore makes a lot of sense to take new phone systems on a trial basis, before you decide to put your money down.
